Alex loves being around people, enjoying the outdoors, playing soccer and helping those in need. He has spent much of his teenage life travelling to dangerous places rolling up his sleeves to help kids in need. In 2015 he gave African kids a source of clean water and helped them fight Ebola. In 2016, 2017and 2019 Alex brought and distributed supplies to kids in South America and the Carribean. Late in 2018 he helped build an elementary school for Syrian refugees in the Middle East so they could have an education while living in their refugee camps. He calls all these kids his friends and they call him “Aleeexx”.

Alex was diagnosed with Leukemia cancer at the age of 16 on June 1st, 2020 and remained courageous when the doctors broke the news to him.  Shortly after his initial diagnosis, we began to plan for what our new life would look like. 

Treatments are intense for Alex and he has endured months of chemotherapy and injections into his spine.  He has a port placed in his chest. 

“I miss moving around like I used to, going fishing and practicing for my drivers license.  My biggest trouble is seeing my parents and little brother work so hard all the time, helping me.  I am the one who should be helping them”

On July 7th, 2020  Alex was cleared for remission and will continue chemotherapy for the next 2-3 years. We wish for Alex to have the best life possible, like every child deserves. 

Through all this, we have seen Alex remain focused and determined. He continues his life-long tradition of kneeling at the side of his bed and praying.  Alex’s favourite verse is Romans 12:14-16 which reads “Bless your enemies; no cursing under your breath. Laugh with your happy friends when they’re happy; share tears when they’re down. Get along with each other; don’t be stuck-up. Make friends with nobodies; don’t be the great somebody.”
