On January 17, 2018 our lives changed in mere moments. Our then 2 year old baby boy was diagnosed with high risk stage 4 Neuroblastoma. After a very intense 18 months of non-stop treatments with the hope of remission, we once again received devastating news. On April 20th 2019 two days before Dominic would have completed his protocol, we discovered a large solid mass growing on his jaw. After completing an MRI along with other scans and tests our fears had come true. Dominic's cancer had progressed, showing new tumours located throughout our little warriors body. We immediately started chemo cycles in the hopes of shrinking the tumours, unfortunately with no luck. Dominic remains stable, showing no growth in his tumours but no shrinkage either. We don't have very many treatment options left, but we carry hope and faith that we will find on that works. It's been two years that our son has been living with cancer and it has never gotten easier, but his warrior spirit and precious smile carries us through to battle the next day's challenges. Today Dominic is 4 years old. He dreams of going to school just like brother and sister one day. He loves superheroes and pokemon. He truly is a character and loves a good prank. Dominic has had 70 chemo days, 44 sessions of radiation, 5 surgeries, 9 bone marrow biopsies, 9 MRIs, 11 CT scans, and 12 MibG scans, 6 cycles of immunotherapy, 2 stem cell transplants, and MIbG therapy. That list will continue to grow as we continue to fight. Needless to say but still so incredibly important is that no one fights alone and it really does take a community to help our children. These kids are true inspirations and a heartfelt reminder of what true beauty and pain is. We are so incredibly grateful to be outpatient and enjoy family time at home. Watching Dominic grow and play with his siblings is a blessing we do not take lightly. We are so grateful that Dominic is stable and enjoying life to the fullest.
